Jemma is a 2018 graduate of the University of Birmingham with an upper-second class BMus in Music. She joined Newell Legal shortly after. Currently, Jemma is on a gap year to allow her to gain experience working in London and to volunteer with Citizens Advice before she undertakes the GDL in September 2019.
Jemma has experience in many fields, having been named in the top 20 in the targetjobs.co.uk UK Female Undergraduate of the Year competition in 2017 for her eclectic set of extracurricular activities and academic achievements. Whilst at university she held down seven jobs; took part in a range of sporting and non-sporting societies; volunteered for an independent record label; performed with the National Youth Music Theatre; mentored younger students; held debates regarding ticket touting on national radio; fostered her social media and technology skills as Media Officer for the University of Birmingham Motor Racing Club; completed a charity skydive for The Children’s Society; developed and presented a 40 minute workshop on university life and her degree for students aged 11-18; and more.
After undertaking an A-Level in Government and Politics in 2014, she has held an interest in the law of which she fostered in the Law for Non-Law Society and through online lectures, discovering strong interests in tech law, intellectual property and global affairs. In her final year of university, she decided that this was the career path she wanted to follow.
In her spare time, Jemma enjoys teaching herself languages (Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese and Arabic) and playing ice hockey.
