Jake is a Pupil Barrister at East Anglian Chambers. Jake was Called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in July 2017, where he won a major scholarship (and received two other awards from his law school). Most recently, Jake served as a Judicial Assistant to Lord Justice Dingemans in the Court of Appeal.

Historic Background

 

Jake graduated with an LLB from the University of Essex. In this final year, Jake was elected as President of the Law Society, where he founded the Law Society Sponsorship Scheme. He served as a Research Assistant to Professor Sabine Michalowski and assisted Dr Matthew Stone with the organisation of the International Law Association Conference, becoming the only non-doctorate and most junior member on the committee. Jake has worked for outside clients (which boasts a large portfolio) and his work has had international implications. Jake's work has also had significant domestic implications through his role as an independent consultant to the UK Administrative Justice Institute, led by Professor Maurice Sunkin QC. Jake also has ties with pro-bono organisations including the Citizens' Advice Bureau.

Jake completed his LLM (specialising in Public Law) at UCL, graduating with a distinction overall. Alongside his LLM studies, Jake was a freelance advocate at County Court level, appearing on behalf of clients in a variety of fields. During his time as an LLM student, Jake was appointed to the editorial board of the UCL Journal of Law and Jurisprudence, and worked as a researcher (and later, consultant) for the UCL Public International Law Pro Bono Project in conjunction with the World Refugee Council. After this period, Jake joined the AIRE Centre to assist individuals on a number of issues, including: deportation, entitlement to benefits and the EU Settlement Scheme.

Aside from law, Jake is an avid footballer, and enjoys a wide range of music.
